Özet

There are several questionnaires to evaluate handicap and community integration. The aim of this study is to make a preliminary study about to use Craig Handicap Assesement and Reporting Technique (CHART) and Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ) on patients with stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI), and to evaluate the outcome. Totally, 31 patients, 16 with stroke and 15 with TBI, were included in the study. The Functional Independence Measurement (FIM) locomotion subtest, Mini Mental State Examination, CHART and CIQ were used to evaluate patients during admittance and their demographic data were noted. Correlation among outcomes was shown by Pearson test. In both patient groups with stroke and TBI, correlation between FIM locomotion and CHART total score was positive (r=0.53, p=0.034; r=0.77, p=0.001). In patients with stroke, correlation between FIM locomotion and CIQ total score was positive (r=0.57, p=0.022;. Correlation between CHART total score and CIQ total score was r=0.66, p=0.006 in patients with stroke whereas it was r=0.61, p=0.016 in patients with TBI. In conclusion, physical and cognitive state is directly correlated with handicap and community integration. CHART and CIQ may he used for handicap and community integration in patients with TBI and stroke.
