Özet

In this study, a cross sectional data derived by retrospectively analyzing the documents of young aged cases that diagnosed as community acquired pneumonia and treated by hospitalization, was given. Totally documents of 321 cases were evaluated. Posteroanterior chest x-rays, blood counts, routine biochemical and microbiological analysis, hospitalization periods and complications that developed were recorded. In our young patient group hospitalization period was relatively short and complication rate was quite low. Most frequently left lower lobe involvement was seen and among detected infectious agents Streptococcus pneumonia was the most common one. No other complication was detected except parapneumonic effusion and the rate of this complication was 5.3%. In conclusion, in pneumonias develop in young patient group with early treatment initiation and appropriate guideline based antibiotics the complication rate and mortality is seen quite rare. Even no agent was isolated from the patients, if antibiotics are initiated earlier and patients are followed up closely, the pneumonia treatment success rate in young age group will be very high.
