Examination of Dentists' Knowledge and Stress Level About COVID-19 Diş Hekimlerinin COVID-19 Hakkındaki Bilgi ve Stres Düzeyinin İncelenmesi

Özet
Background: 2019-nCoV is mainly transmitted with the inhalation of droplets that spread through patients’ speech, coughing and sneezing. In the present study, it is aimed to investigate the knowledge and stress levels of dentists who dental treating the COVID-19 pandemic process about the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods: In our study, a questionnaire that containing information and stress levels of the COVID-19 epidemic was sent to dentists online. Survey form consisted of different sections examining demographic information, the status of having COVID-19, the use of rubber-dam in procedures requiring aerosol, the level of knowledge about COVID-19 disease, and the stress status. The relationship between dentists' gender, age, education level and the institution they work with and their knowledge and stress levels on COVID-19 were evaluated using the Pearson Chi-Square test (p<0.05). Results: In our study, 8.9% of dentists stated that they had COVID-19 disease. It was observed that the rate of use of rubber-dam during dental procedures that generate aerosol was 17.4%. The knowledge levels of physicians about COVID-19, their gender, age, education level and the institution they worked for did not present significant difference (p>0.05). It was observed that 94.2% of dentists were stressed about getting COVID-19 during dental treatment applications. Conclusion: It has been observed that dentists have a high level of knowledge about COVID-19. However, it was observed that they were stressed about getting COVID-19 disease during dental treatment due to close contact with patients.
