Özet
Xenon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless monatomic gas. It is manufactured by fractional distillation of liquid air. It has long been recognized that xenon is an anesthetic. Xenon anesthesia has been evaluated in many experimental clinical trials that have demonstrated its safe and effective profile and also has many of the properties of an ideal anesthetic. Besides these anesthetic effects, xenon has been shown to exert analgesic, substantial organoprotective properties, especially in the brain and the heart. It is environmentally friendly and does not have ozone depleting properties. However the limited use xenon in clinical practice is related to high cost.
