Özet
Nanostructure-based drug delivery systems belong to a rapidly growing field of Pharmaceutical Technology since they are efficient and safe, with tunable properties, such as small diameter, appropriate surface-area-to-volume ratio, biodegradability, as well as biocompatibility. The utilization of electrospinning to develop such nanostructures has been applied in the last decade due to its easy handling, the available options of solvent that can be used, and the several advantages it offers. Therefore, oral electrospun nanofibers demonstrate favorable biological, physical, and chemical activities, being ideal drug delivery carriers for various biomedical applications, including oral and systemic diseases. This chapter focuses on per os drug delivery and its challenges, as well as the applications of oral nanofibrous mast for local and systemic administration.
