Contemporary end of life issues in adult intensive care units

Özet
There are multitude of studies and guidelines about end of life issues in intensive care unit (ICU) but application of these issues are confusing and open-ended in countries like Turkey where both specific legislative regulations and clear, domestic and unique medical proffessional guidelines are not available. In this review we described the prominent terminology currently used in end of life issues although a number of discrepancies exist and outlined the contmporary problems experienced in daily ICU practice like medical futility, potentially inappropriate treatments, triage decisions and responding to potentially inappropriate therapies in adult ICUs.
