Özet
The aim of this study is to adapt the Stigma of Loneliness Scale (SLS) to Turkish and to conduct a validity and reliability study. The sample of the study consisted of a total of 483 university students, 285 (59%) females, 196 (40.6%) males, and 2 (0.4%) others whose age range was between 18 and 57 (21.79±3.60). It was applied to 33 students who were students of the psychology department with an interval of 3 weeks for a test-retest analysis. For criterion validity, 239 participants were administered the UCLA Loneliness Scale, Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale (DASS-21), Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) together with the SLS. In order to determine the factor structure of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (EFA and CFA) were performed, and it was determined that a two-dimensional structure with an eigenvalue above 1 was formed in the EFA with the varimax rotation method. As a result of the CFA, it was seen that the two-factor structure was confirmed without any modification and the fit indices were at an acceptable level. Within the scale reliability, the Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient of the SLS was calculated, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total scale was .91, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficients for the sub-dimensions were .80 and .91. The test-retest correlation coefficient of the scale was found to be r = .47 for the total scale, r = .58 for self-stigma of loneliness and r = .45 for public stigma of loneliness. Significant relationships were found as a result of the correlation analysis for the criterion validity of the SLS. The results showed that the Turkish version of the scale was valid and reliable.
