Özet

Anesthesia and surgery are both the causes of endocrine and metabolic responses. Anaesthesia, on its own, can reduce or even prevent these responses. In this study, hemodynamic and endocrine responses to laryngoscopy, anaesthesia and surgery were studied. Three groups were studied using different induction agents. In the first group 5 mg/kg thiopenthal, in second group 5 mg/kg thiopenthal + 8 μg/kg fentanyl, in the third group 2.5 mg/kg propofol was administered. The hemodynamic measurements were performed before induction, after intubation and after extubation. Blood samples were obtained before induction, after intubation and after extubation. Data were compared, statistically within the groups and between the groups by using Student's t lest. There were not any statistically significant difference between thiopental and propofol group with respect to their suppression of the hemodynamic responses. In the second, group there was a significant suppression in HR and MAP (p < 0.01). It is concluded that 8 μg/kg fentanyl supplemention to the induction with thiopental (5 mg/kg) makes it possible to have stable hemodynamic responses although it is not enough to suppress the endocrin responses with the exception of ACTH.
