Özet
Foreign objects such as coins, batteries, toys, magnets, needles, nails, bobby pins, buttons, toothpicks, trichobezoar, and phytobezoar can be found in the gastrointestinal tract. However, it is rare for a pencil to be detected in the upper gastrointestinal tract. In our case, a five-year-old boy was brought to the pediatric emergency department after swallowing a pencil. A sharp and long-looking foreign body was observed on the abdominal X-ray, but the child showed no symptoms. The pencil, located in the duodenal bulb, was safely removed endoscopically under general anesthesia using a snare, without any complications. Although foreign objects in the gastrointestinal tract are common, sharp objects such as pencils can cause complications. Early intervention and removal of the foreign body can prevent morbidity and mortality.
