Özet
One of the effective mechanisms in blood pressure control is regulation via baroreceptors. When the arterial pressure increases, the baroreceptors in the arterial walls are stretched and send signals to the central nervous system to reduce the arterial pressure. Activating renal sympathetic nerves increases water and sodium reabsorption from renal tubules, renin secretion and renal vascular resistance. The opposite events occur when renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSNA) decreases. In this study, a longterm cardiovascular system mathematical model was used to examine the effect of RSNA inhibition on arterial blood pressure. Over approximately twelve days, at normal sodium intake, RSNA was reduced by ten and thirty percent of the normal value. Urinary water and sodium excretion initially increases when RSNA is reduced, arterial blood pressure decreases, and then urinary water and sodium excretion returns to normal values. When the RSNA is reduced by thirty percent from its normal value, the increase in urinary water and sodium excretion and the decrease in arterial pressure are greater than when the RSNA is reduced by ten percent from the normal value. This result supports the hypothesis that in chronic reduction of RSNA, arterial pressure decreases in order to maintain water and sodium balance.
