Özet
Glutamine, known as the energy source of epithelial cells, is used in total parenteral nutrition. Due to the increasing effect of colonocytes proliferation; glutamine is considered in colonic anastomosis recently. In our study enteral diet with and without glutamine was applied to the rots with colon anastomosis to investigate the biomechanical, biochemical and histopathologic results. No significant difference was found between the two groups in respect of the biomechanic and histopathologic result (p<0.5). A significant increase was found in the hydroxyproline levels of the rats using glutamine (p<0.001). The results of our study show that the enteral use of glutamine is effective on colon anastomosis.
