Özet

Recurrence of Crohn's disease frequently occurs after surgery. A retrospective trial was performed to determine whether sulphasalazine or mesalamine are effective in decreasing the risk of recurrent Crohn's disease following surgical resection. The symptomatic recurrence rate (symptom plus endoscopic and/or radiological confirmation of disease) in the treatment group was 23.1% (3/13) compared with 50% (5/10) in the control group (p<0.05). In conclusion, postoperative drug treatment is effective in decreasing the risk of recurrence of Crohn's disease following surgical resection.
