Özet

Studies on IgG subclass levels and the capacity for specific antibody production in patients with a history of chronic or recurrent respiratory tract infections without an associated deficiency in major Ig isotypes have increasingly been reported. In this study we measureed IgG subclasses in 125 patients with recurrent infections, and tetanus-toxioid antibody responses in 10 of them. Of this population 27% (33 patients) had an isolated or combined IgG subclass deficiency. Of the 10 patients who were tested, two (20%) could not produce tetanus antibodies following tetanus-toxoid immunization. This study shows the importance of searching for IgG subclasses and antibody production in patients with recurrent infections, as previously demonstrated.
