Özet
Accidents and injuries likely to result in death have increased substantially due to high speed and an active lifestyle, which have been the products of advanced technology in the last century. Road accidents are the leading cause of this type of trauma. In parallel, the incidence of temporal bone fractures has also increased. In society, one of the most important health problems of people aged between 1 and 34 years is road accidents, and head trauma is identified in 75% of these accidents (Hough and McGee, 1992). Skull fractures are observed in 23% to 66% of patients treated for head trauma, and 18% to 22% of these fractures occur in the temporal bone (Ishman and Friedland, 2004; Gladwell and Viozzi, 2008; Ricciardiello et al., 2021). As temporal bone fractures are generally observed together with head traumas and multiple organ traumas, they require a multidisciplinary approach with a team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, radiologists, and otolaryngologists (Ishman and Friedland, 2004; Kanona et al., 2020; Ricciardiello et al., 2021). Respiratory and circulatory system disorders are given priority in the treatment of these injuries, and should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist after the emergency life measures are taken, and the necessary examinations and treatments should be initiated.
