Özet
Bruxism, defined as involuntarily or unconsciously clenching or grinding the teeth, typically during sleep, may cause dysfunction of temporomandybular joint, periodontal disease, tooth wear, hypertrophy of masticatory muscles and headache. It is reported that bruxism can occur because of SSRIs and Venlafaksin. Buspirone, that is partial agonist of 5-HT1A receptors, may treat bruxism caused by SSRI or Venlafaksin. Alternative treatment option is to decrease the dose of the drug. Two cases and the treatment of SSRI induced bruxism is discussed in the study with the literature support.
