Özet
The triage area is the patient’s initial point of admission to the emergency department. As such, it poses a significant risk, particularly for infections transmitted via droplet and contact routes. Factors such as the inability to fully ascertain the patient’s complaints and symptoms upon arrival, the architectural and technical conditions of the physical space, rapid patient turnover, and the level of training and experience of healthcare and cleaning personnel in isolation and hygiene practices make isolation in this area more complex. In this chapter, isolation measures in the triage area will be discussed based on the published literature. With this discussion, we aim to define the ideal triage area, which constitutes a partial answer to the question, “What should the emergency department of the future look like?”
