Özet
In this study; social skills of apprentices in the 14–18 age group who study vocational training centers of the Ministry of National Education in the 2022–2023 academic year were examined. In the study; Opinions of 14 guidance teachers working in vocational training centers in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Denizli, Muğla, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, Samsun, Malatya, Van and Konya provinces, which are metropolitan cities in seven geographical regions of Turkey, on the social skills of apprentices were obtained. Themes were formed from the data obtained through the interviews conducted with the semi-structured interview form. In the results of working it has been stated that; 14–18 age group apprentices; within the scope of communication skills; they do not have good communication skills with their parents in the family and with qualified instructors, peers, the opposite sex and teachers in the workplace and generally have insufficient communication skills; they do not have sufficient knowledge and experience in problem solving skills, therefore they are not good at problem solving, they try to solve most of the problems they face by using violence, and sometimes they harm themselves; in their adaptation skills, they failed to adapt in the first years when they started the vocational training center, but towards the last years, they have started to adapt relatively; unlike other skills, they are successful at collaboration because they are working in a workplace, they frequently experience this skill in their workplaces, thus their ability to collaboration skill develops; they often take responsibility and make decisions at work, where their responsibility-taking skills vary depending on the situation.
