Özet
In the absence of trauma and medical illness, scuba diving fatalities are usually caused asphyxia and cerebral arterial gas embolism (CAGE). Postmortem radiology have the potential to become useful adjuncts to forensic autopsy. Computed Tomography (CT) can use to determine of the postmortem CAGE. We present the case of a 42 year old male diver who died from decompression after rapid ascent from approximately 20 m. Postmortem CT studies of the brain, chest and neck revealed extensive gas inclusions in arteries. The findings were confirmed at autopsy. By taking the postmortem artefactual gas formation into consideration, CT scan can be used to determine the postmortem short term arterial gas embolism but to interpret this finding should be confirmed with the scene investigation and autopsy finding. © 2012 Romanian Society of Legal Medicine.
