Özet
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of mortality among cancer-related deaths, and treatment modalities for traditional chemotherapy had been stagnant in the last decades. Compared to conventional platinum-based chemotherapy, an alternative treatment approach labeled as targeted therapy for certain tumor mutations has been utilized with great success for non-small cell lung carcinoma patients. Especially prevalent in adenocarcinoma patients, mutations such as EGFR, ALK, RET, and ROS provide targeted therapy possibilities with less side effects and higher tolerability compared to traditional regimens. In this chapter, targeted therapy options will be discussed, with special focus on EGFR-TKI drugs and brief summaries of rarer yet observable mutations.
