Demonstration of effects of amphotericin B on Candida albicans by using transmission electron microscope

Özet
In this study, the effect mechanism of Amphotericin B on Candida albicans ATCC 26555 strain on minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was examined by using Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Nomarski mode of light microscope. We examined the specimens with Nomarski method which were treated with Amphotericin B at twelfth and twenty-fourth hours, we observed an increase on the central halos of Candida species. When the same groups were examined with TEM, decreasing of the thickness of cell wall, impairing of continuity of cytoplasmic membrane and disappearing of cell organelles were determined.
