Özet
Introduction We aimed to investigate cognitive appraisals in OCD via detection of the relationship between mother's obsessive beliefs and inferential confusion with OCD and their mothers. Materials and Methods Results Conclusion Our sample consisted of 25 adolescents with OCD and their mothers and study was designed as a cross-sectional descriptive study. After administration of the Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL) and the Yale-Brown Obsession-Compulsion Scale (Y-DOCS) to adolescent’s, subjects with OCD and participating mothers were administered Obsessive Beliefs Questionnaire-44 (OBQ-44), Inferential Confusion Scale(ICS), The Padua Inventory (PI). The relationship between obsessive beliefs and inferential confusion of the patients and their mothers, as well as the relationship between the obsessive-compulsive symptom severity of the cognitive factors examined in the patients were investigated. According to the correlation analysis between adolescent’s and mothers’ obsessive beliefs and inferential confusion scale, only a statistically significant negative correlation was found between the adolescent’s obsessive beliefs-perfectionism/ intolerance of uncertainty scores and mothers’s obsessive beliefs-responsibility/overestimation of threat scores. This study partially supported the hypotheses about obsessive beliefs and inferential confusion in adolescents with OCD. Arrangement of clinical treatments by considering possible pathological cognitive factors in families can increase the success of treatment.
