Özet
Fall is a major public health problem with one in three older people falling at least once a year. Falling is associated with increased mortality, injuries, loss of independence and adverse psychosocial consequences. Early identification of balance problems, mobility problems and falling risks in the elderly is important and it is important to have protective rehabilitation approaches. Our purpose in this review is to examine the causes of balance, mobility problems and falls in the elderly and to reveal the ways in which we can evaluate these problems. The assessments can be based on observing the performance of the elderly or with scales. If more objective results are desired, equilibrium can be assessed in the laboratory and possible risk of falling can be determined. In this review, the most preferred methods in the literature for evaluating elderly people are discussed in detail.
