Özet

Lipoblastoma and lipoblastomatosis are rare benign mesenchymal tumors of childhood and infancy (4,9,16,19). These tumors are most frequently located at the body and extremities. Head and neck localizations are reported to be rare (7). In this report, we present a one-year-old case with cervico-axillary lipoblastomatosis that showed recurrence after the first operation, surrounding right clavicula, axillary vessels and nerves. Recurrence was not observed after the second operation, in which en-bloc resection was performed. Pathological evaluation did not show any sign of malignity and chromosomal analysis did not reveal any abnormalities. At the early post-operative follow-up period, there was no a problem related to the operation whereas late follow-up revealed complete resorption of the right clavicle. Currently, patient is in the sixth year of follow-up and has no functional deficit that affects his routine daily life. In the physical examination, no sign of brachial plexus injury is detected. Aim of this case report is to remind this rare tumor when diagnosing infantile and childhood tumoral masses and to emphasize the importance of complete resection while operating lipoblastoma and lipoblastomatosis cases, which have high recurrence rate and can cause serious problems depending on their location.
