Özet
The ability of the calcium silicate treatment to induce the formation of an apatite layer on chitosan microparticles was analyzed. Chitosan was dissolved in acetic acid (1%v) to obtain a 2%wt solution and left overnight to assure complete chitosan dissolution. The microspheres were left overnight in the bath to assure complete precipitation. It was found that when the specimen was soaked in SBF, the Ca ions in the surface layer were released into SBF to form many Si-OH groups and simulataneously increased the ionic activity product of the surrounding fluid with respect to apatite.
