Özet
Although full-term infants who are small for their gestational age (SGA) have a lower neonatal mortality rate than preterm infants, they do present with specific management problems in the neonatal period. In this paper, 264 SGA babies who were born in the period of 1.1.1992-31.12.1992 have been evaluated. Among our SGA babies 34.1 % were premature, 40.9 % had polycytemia, 21.2 % had hypoglycemia; 9.4 % had asphyxia and 5.3 % had congenital anomalies. Asphyxia and congenital anomalies are main causes of mortality in SGA babies.
