Özet
It's known that adverse reactions to contrast media are less frequent with lower osmolality, nonionic contrast agents, but they aren't totally eliminated. Moreover, complete conversion to low osmolality media isn't cost-effective and would greatly increase health spending. In this article, adverse reactions to contrast media were reviewed; effectiveness and safety of ionic and nonionic contrast media were compared. After explaining pretreatment protocols and patient approach, some suggestions were put forward.
