Özet

Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are multitasking and highly conserved molecular chaperones. Under normal physiological conditions, cells express low levels of HSPs but cellular stresses induce their upregulation. HSPs not only regulate protein homeostasis but also the activity of transcriptional networks and signal transduction molecules. HSPs are the key drivers of adaptive stress response pathways in carcinogenesis and metastasis. Recent advancements have revolutionized our understanding related to the complexity of regulatory roles of HSPs and the degree to which HSPs participate in normal cellular physiology and malignancies. In this chapter we have attempted to highlight the participation of HSPs and molecular mechanisms which underlie the tumor progression and metastasis.
