Özet

Immunity of the population of 410 soldiers in the 20-25 age group against tetanus and the possible factors effecting this immunity status has been searched with the intention of searching the factors that might affect the continuity of the immunity program starting from the childhood years. For detecting tetanus antibody levels, blood samples has been taken from a research group of mean age 20.89+/-0.95 and then 0.5 ml adult type diphtheria-tetanus vaccine (Imogram dT, Pasteur-Meriaux, France) has been applied. After one month of vaccination, blood samples has been taken from 316 out of 416 people and tetanus antibody levels have been spotted with Gen- enzyme Virotech GmbH (Lowenplatz 5, Russelsehim, Germany) test kit. 20.6% of the age of 20 and 11.8% of age of 21-24 has been found under the protective level which is 0.01 IU/ml, and prior to vaccination period statistically a significant difference has been determined (p<0.05, p<0.01) regarding the age groups and educational status. When researched in terms of geographic regions, 24% of the population coming from Blacksea region, 23.5% of the population coming from South East and East Anatolia region has been found to have antibody levels under the protective level, and statistically the regional differences has been found significant (p<0.01). After the vaccination, in all age groups the antibody levels has been found above the protective level. According the these results, it can be concluded that a single dose of tetanus vaccination should be applied to the 20 year-old age group.
