Özet
The monitorization of consciousness is of importance in patients with traumatic brain injury. Ventilation support could be required due to the low Glasgow Coma Score (GCS <7-8); however, it requires concurrent sedation, making monitorization of consciousness difficult, delaying treatment. High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy is an innovative and useful method for treating patients with respiratory failure. Here, we presented our experience with HFNC with O2 treatment after extubation in our patient with 7-8 GCS in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to traumatic brain injury. HFNC should be kept in mind as an advantageous method in which monitoring of consciousness is essential since HFNC does not require sedation.
