Özet
Retinal artery occlusion is an important ophthalmic emergency state. In the retinal artery occlusions sudden and painless visual loss is typical. Approximately 38% of retinal artery occlusion is branch occlusion and result sudden visual loss of in the occluding vessel visual area. Irreversible injury of retinal tissue before the ischemic period of revascularization usually results in permanent visual loss. Despite the use of various treatment modalities for retinal artery occlusion, complete curative treatment is not available. It has been reported in the literature that hyperbaric oxygen therapy may increase visual acuity in patients with branch retinal artery occlusion. In this case, it is aimed to explain the benefit of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in a patient with sudden visual loss taking a diagnosis of retinal artery occlusion.
