Özet
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is a significant public health concern worldwide, with millions of cases and thousands of deaths each year. The diagnosis and management of CO poisoning can be challenging, as its symptoms are non-specific and can mimic other conditions. Therefore, identifying reliable biomarkers to diagnose and monitor the progression of CO poisoning is crucial. This chapter reviews current research on biomarkers that can be used to diagnose and diagnose CO poisoning. The main focus is on the role of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) levels as a biomarker, as they are widely used in clinical practice. However, other potential biomarkers, including lactate, neuron-specific biomarkers, and cytokines, are also discussed. The chapter provides an overview of the diagnostic and prognostic value of these biomarkers and their limitations. Overall, this chapter highlights the potential of biomarkers in improving the diagnosis and prognosis of CO poisoning and provides insight into their use in clinical practice.
