Özet

Aim: This study examines the relationship between pediatric nurses' burnout levels and their professional self-efficacy. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out between March and September 2024. 233 pediatric nurses working directly with children in three hospitals completed the Nursing Profession Self-Efficacy Scale and Burnout Measure-Short Version. For continuous variables, the associations were evaluated using Pearson's correlation. Results: The mean Nursing Profession Self-Efficacy Scale score among participating nurses was 67.30 (SD=6.72), and the mean Burnout Measure-Short Version score was 3.92 (SD=1.33). A significant negative correlation was found between the Nursing Profession Self-Efficacy Scale and the Short Version of the Burnout Scale (r=-0.200; p<0.01). Furthermore, a significant negative correlation was found between the Professionalism situations subdimensions of the Nursing Profession Self-Efficacy Scale and the Burnout Measure–Short Version (r=-0.185, p<0.01). According to the study results, nurses' self-efficacy scores were high, whereas burnout levels were moderate. Conclusion: It can be said that as nurses' professional self-efficacy and their approaches to professional situations within the framework of professionalism increase, their burnout levels decrease. This study may provide insight to draw attention to professionalism in interventions to reduce burnout of nurses working in pediatric wards.
