Özet
Child development is the concept of the changes occurring and their continuation in the time from birth to adolescence. Developmental screening tools are used in the evaluation of the development of children, for supportive applications to be made when there is a need, and for the implementation of practices that protect the best interests of the child such as family guidance. Developmental screening, monitoring, and evaluation are important for the early detection of developmental problems and for early intervention to be made. The early diagnosis of developmental disorders is of critical importance for the welfare of the child and their family. For suitable tests to be selected by specialists, there is a need for cultural appropriateness, as well as validity and reliability studies specific to the population in which the test is to be applied. In addition, the environment in which the test will be applied, and the general condition and physical conditions of the child affect test selection. Children diagnosed with a developmental disorder should be identified as children with special healthcare needs and management of a chronic condition must be started. Identification of a developmental disorder and the underlying etiology can guide the medical management of the child. There are different evaluation approaches that are used in the evaluation of the development of children. The Bayley-4 and Guide for Monitoring Child Development are often used as developmental screening and monitoring tools in Türkiye and throughout the world.
