Özet
Introduction: Previous studies showed that clozapine has an ability to improve outcomes in patients with treatment-resistant symptoms. Clozapine use is recommended to patients who do not respond well to pharmacological intervention because of its side effects (1, 2, 3). The main aim of this retrospective study is to estimate changes in the prescription pattern of clozapine in the years of 2005 and 2006. Method: The data base of Social Security Institution was examined retrospectively to examine trends in prescription pattern of clozapine. Results: Our study results showed that a total of 29132 box of clozapine had been used in 2005 while a total of 39837 box of clozapine was used in 2006. Clozapine prescription rate was seemed to be increased significantly in 2006 (Table). Conclusion: Despite the increase in the number of second generation antipsychotics and despite its side effects clozapine use seems to be increased in 2005-2006 years period.
