Özet
Syme amputation is an ankle disarticulation in which body weight can be carried through stump end. For this reason, posterior heel flap rich of soft tissue is used as a pillow on stump end. We present a case, although without posterior heel flap, still can carry body weight on stump end by a prosthesis without any problems. In the light of literature and experiences of GATA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, we conclude that in cases for which classical Syme amputation is not appropriate due to problems of posterior heel flap, ankle disarticulations with closure of anterior skin flap could be preferred to below-knee amputations.
