Özet
Spinal cord injury is frequently complicated with respiratory problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the pulmonary function tests and their relationship with the level of injury in chronic spinal cord injured patients. Eighty-two chronic spinal cord injured patients who applied to Turkish Armed Forces Rehab Center were included in the study. The percentages of predicted normal values of VC, FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and PEFR were measured. The patients were divided into 4 groups according to their level of injury: Cervical, high thoracic, low thoracic, and lumbosacral. Pulmonary function test results were lower than predicted normals for all the groups. In conclusion, pulmonary functions were found to be affected in chronic spinal cord injured patients for all injury levels.
