Özet
Childhood pneumonia is the leading cause of the health problems all over the world. In the case of diagnostic difficulties except invasive methods, diagnosis is made by epidemiological, clinical, laboratory and radiological events and empirical therapy is given. In this article efficacy of ampicillin/sulbactam and ceftriaxone in the empirical treatment of childhood pneumonia was investigated in 229 cases. There was a significant increase in pneumonia cases in winter (%42,4), inspiratory rales (%56,3), and paracardiac infiltrations (%66,8) were frequent findings. None of the patients discontinued the treatment because of the adverse effects and there was no significant difference in clinical and radiological improvement between groups of patients. Evaluated antibiotics in our study were found effective in the treatment of childhood pneumonia.
