Objective: Colpocleisis is recognized as a highly successful surgical procedure for pelvic organ prolapse in elderly patients who no longer desire preservation of coital function. The aim of this study is to share our experience in colpocleisis cases which performed in our clinic. Material and Methods: The study was performed using 25 complete medical records of women who were undergone colpocleisis operation in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, Baki{dotless}rköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Teaching and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey, from January 2008 to January 2013. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 10.0 software. Results: A total of 25 patients with colpocleisis were analyzed. The mean age of the patients was 75.08±9.9. The mean gravidity and parity was 7.4±2.7 and 6.8±3.0, respectively. Only 1 (4%) patient had denovo urinary incontinence. One patient's prolapse recur after 13 months in the postoeparive period and she had undergone sacral hysteropexy. Except the case who had recurrence, all of the patients did not regret because of the operation. Conclusion: Colpocleisis is safe and an efficacious procedure which increases quality of life of the patients. Copyright © 2014 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
