Özet
Cardiac problems are the leading cause of cerebral embolizm in children. Atrial mixomas, which are frequent in adult but rare in children, are among these problems. The neurologic manifestations consist mainly of acute focal deficits from emboli, and these may be the initial presentation of the tumor. We presented a 13-years-old female patient who presenting with clinical signs of cerebral embolism. Atrial myxoma filling the left atrium in echocardiographic study. The tumor was removed surgically after diaonosis and follow-up examinations showed regression of neurological symptoms. Atrial myxoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis when children present with neurologic symptoms or with signs with embolization, because surgical removal of the tumor is critical and may be curative.
