Özet
Soft tissue sarcomas are rare malignant tumors, and 10 15% of them are located in retroperitoneal space. Leiomyosarcoma is the second frequent one after liposarcoma and originates in the retroperitoneum from smooth muscle cells or from smooth muscle layer in a vein. Primary leiomyosarcoma are frequently found in abdominal retroperitoneum, a pelvic localization being rather an uncommon finding. Retroperitoneal sarcomas are well known to present difficulties in their complete resection because of their inaccessible location and the absence of early symptoms, resulting in tumors of large site by the time the diagnosis is made. In this case, a patient with non-gynecologic leiomyosarcoma which originates in the pelvic retroperitoneum is presented. Aggressive surgery and wide resection of the retroperitoneal mass were performed in order to lower the local recurrence and improve survival rates. During surgery an interposition graft had been used to preserve iliac artery flow.
