Özet
Although it may vary depending on the unique characteristics of the unit, the incidence of delirium is quite high. The underlying pathophysiological mechanisms contributing to the clinical manifestation of delirium are still subject to hypotheses. The onset of delirium is often multifactorial in nature. Identification of modifiable risk factors, early recognition of symptoms, and implementation of coordinated treatment strategies can help predict adverse outcomes. Among the different types of delirium, hypoactive delirium is frequently seen in this population. In critically ill patients, delirium is associated with higher mortality rates, prolonged hospitalization, and an increased risk of cognitive impairment.
