Özet
Hormonal changes in the postpartum period and physiological changes that ocur on pregnancy period have both positive and negative effects often caused by sociological reasons. These reasons vary in every geography. Culture is important in terms of mood, it affects the individual on topics such as cognitive structure, beliefs, practices, emotional reactions and behaviors. The puerperium period is also shaped by the social and cultural environment in which women live. In many cultures, postpartum period is treated as a period of sensitivity and subjected to various traditional practices to contribute to maternal and infant health. These practices can have negative and positive health effects, and some practices have no effect. Despite all the proms and cons on health some practices aren’t effective. It should be kept in mind that these applications may have some detrimental and delaying effects on treatment. The practices need to be determined to improve positive effets and to prevent ones It should be taken into consideration that the cultural values, attitudes, behaviors and beliefs of the society affect the lifestyle of individuals. These factors may also effect on health. Because of this, all health workers should address the woman with the social environment in which she lives. In general, it is important for health workers to raise public awareness about the risks arising from the approaches of the social environment, to carry out studies on this issue and to develop methods to improve health services during postpartum period.For this reason, this study, which is in the compilation genre, aims to reveal the role of the social environment during postpartum period.
