Özet

Hypercoagulability is one of the clinical consequences of nephrotic syndrome (NS). This report discusses a child with NS who developed a right atrial thrombus. The patient was treated successfully with recombinant human tissue plasminogen activator (rh-tPA) and low-molecular-weight heparin. The only predisposing factor in the case was presence of a central venous catheter. The authors suggest that thrombolytic therapy should be the first-line treatment for right atrial thrombi in paediatric patients with NS because the method is non-invasive and carries low risk of sudden pulmonary thromboembolism.
