Background: Epidermoid cysts are the most common cysts of the skin. But they are uncommon in the elderly and are slow-growing and generally so small that they rarely reach 5 cm in diameter. We present a patient with a giant epidermoid cyst in the sternum region. Patient and Method: A 61-year-old man presented with a giant, soft, painless, tumor-like mass on the sternum that had gradually enlarged over a 4-year period. Excision of the mass from the surrounding tissue was extremely easy as the capsule was well defined. Results: The12 x 9 x 9 cm mass was totally excised. A histopathological examination revealed an epidermoid cyst. Conclusion: An original case of an epidermoid cyst with an unusual location and size is presented. © Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart.
