Özet
The prevalence of cardiac diseases and risk factors which are important determinants of mortality and morbidity is rapidly increased worldwide. Hence, the importance of cardiac assessment in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery cannot be denied. There are multiple determinants of patient's safety in the perioperative period. Along with patient-related factors, type of surgery, advances in surgical techniques, and rapid management of intraoperative and postoperative complications reduce the rate of perioperative mortality and morbidity. The evaluation of the cardiac status before surgery, review of the laboratory tests, and the examination of the factors related to surgery are important to establish potential risks and the necessity of the procedure.
