Özet
Ionic liquids (ILs) are molten salts that are liquid at tempseratures below 100°C. Even though the discovery of ILs dates back to the 1900s, it can be said that they have found widespread use in analytical chemistry relatively recently thanks to their chemically stable, nonflammable, highly conductive, and flexible profile. During the synthesis of ILs, various cations containing pyridinium, imidazolium, pyrrolidinium, etc., and anions (tetrafluoroborate hexafluorophosphate, trifluorotris(pentafluoroethyl)phosphate, thiocyanate, etc.) are used together. Applications of ILs in analytical chemistry include sample preparation processes and separation methods such as chromatography and electrophoresis. In addition, one of the most critical applications of ILs is in electrochemical sensor systems. ILs can be used as electrode modification materials or electrolytes. Biocompatibility of ILs offers integration with biological materials, and they can also be combined with nanomaterials and molecularly imprinted polymers.
