Özet
Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) are a significant and large class of environmental contaminants, including pesticides, personal care products, hormones, endocrine-disrupting compounds, etc., and they contaminate natural resources due to human-induced activities. The toxicity potential of these compounds and their presence at trace levels in samples, such as soil and water, emphasised the importance of research in their determination. The clean-up, extraction and pre-concentration processes for these complex samples are critical to enhance determination efficiency and performance. Looking at the whole analysis process, integrating green chemistry concepts at each step contributes to sustainability and eco-friendliness. This includes reduced volume, renewability, less energy consumption, less waste, miniaturisation and biodegradability during sample collection, sample preparation, final analysis and outcomes analysis. Different types of solid-phase extraction and microextraction techniques are used for this purpose, followed by gas and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. This chapter gives the overview of the green analytical chemistry approaches for the sample preparation and determination of organic contaminants in environmental samples. The most recent and prominent studies of this topic in the last 10years are discussed in terms of selected analyte, determination and extraction methods, applied sample, LOD and recovery% values.
