Turkish Validity and Reliability Study of the Anticipated Turnover Scale

Background and Purpose: Predicting nurse turnover before it occurs is important for nursing management to develop effective, data-driven retention strategies to reduce turnover. The purpose of this study was to test the reliability and validity of the Anticipated Turnover Scale (ATS) in Turkish. Methods: A psychometric design was used. The scale was tested on a sample of 390 nurses working in hospitals across Turkey. The data were collected between January and March 2023. Validity was assessed using content validity and confirmatory factor analysis modeling. Reliability was evaluated using coefficient α and test–retest methods. Results: Coefficient α internal consistency coefficient was.95. No significant difference was found between the test–retest mean scores. The item–total score correlation values of the scale were between 0.73 and 0.91, and the single-factor structure was found to be acceptable. The ATS was found to be a unidimensional scale consisting of 12 items. Conclusion: It was determined that the ATS is a valid and reliable scale to be applied to Turkish nurses.
